Sunny Hills Elementary School
The subject project, Sunny Hills Elementary, is a rebuild project. One of the greatest challenges of this project was to construct an entirely new 82,000sf building on a portion of the school site while maintaining the full operation of the existing building which included a parent drop off area and separate bus loop, staff and guest parking, and an outdoor play area for students. The schedule for this project was May 1, 2015 to September 1, 2016 (16 months at best). This necessitated a constant focus on progress and extraordinary measures by the Owner and General Contractor to stay on schedule (ie. overtime for trades, expediting materials, working closely with subcontractors and regulatory agencies, etc.) while minimizing the impact to existing school operations.
